SAC2021, Day 3...

We're back with Day 3 of the Sacramento Archives Crawl. With an eye on better understanding the fight for racial equality in California, the California State Library's California History Section takes us on a journey through the various formats within the Jeremiah Burke Sanderson Collection. We also see photographic documentation of the Old City Cemetery Committee's dedicated efforts to raise $35,000 for the restoration of various headstones in Sacramento's beloved-by-many Old City Cemetery. Finally, brought to us by the Placer County Museums Division, learn about the gritty (and, of course, perseverant) town of Iowa Hill.

SAC2021, Day 2...

Monday's crawl takes us on a LIVE! look into the Center for Sacramento History, a guided VIP tour within the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park's Wah Hop Store, a pleasing trip through the world class facility known as the California State Archives stacks, and via various archival entry points in the Sacramento Public Library's Sacramento Room, the events that have faced down Sacramento throughout its post-European contact history, including the Influenza Pandemic of 1918/1919, the Great Depression, World War II, and the Cold War.

And So the Perseverance Begins...

Kicking off SAC2021 is this wonderfully unique dive into the holdings of the California State Railroad Museum Library and Archives, the El Dorado Historical Museum, and the San Joaquin County Historical Society and Museum. These presentations on the restorative elements of Blood, Justice, and Water are worth a view.

Persevering Details for the 2021 Crawl

Like last year, public health has led us to opt for a virtual Sacramento Archives Crawl for the first week of October.

And also like last year, expect to see videos, displays and photos right here, this time within a shorter span of time: Sunday October 3 through Saturday October 9. Chunks from our collections will, again, help tackle our chosen theme - "Preserving Perseverance."

Virtual tours of our storage vaults, exhibits, and Facebook Live sessions will all be on the menu. Stay tuned for some good surprises along the way!

The Weinstock-Lubin department store is visible in the upper left section of the frame. 135 Sacramentans perished while serving during World War I.
