How to crawl on Saturday

Sacramento Archives Crawl is coming this Saturday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and here's how you can take part:

1) Check out your transportation and parking options.  We have the same free bus shuttle between locations as last year.

2) Start at any host location:

California State Archives (1020 O Street)
California State Library (900 N Street)
Center for Sacramento History (551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd)
Sacramento Public Library (Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, Central Library, 828 I Street)

3) Pick up the Archives Crawl passport at your first location.

4) View great collections on the theme of "Powered by the Past," sign up for behind-the-scenes tours, ask for expert advice, and enjoy connecting with fellow archives fans.

5) If you're a K-12 student (or the parent of one), check out the details on our History Scavenger Hunt

6) Collect stamps in your passport from at least three of the host locations and receive a set of commemorative coasters.  Visit Sacramento Public Library to enter to win our grant prize basket full of archives goodies (no purchase necessary and you need not be present to win).

7) Mark your calendar for the next Sacramento Archives Crawl on October 1, 2015.  Next year's very topical theme: "A Thirst for History."

K-12 scavenger hunt for iPad Mini 3s

This year’s Archives Crawl will feature a “History Scavenger Hunt,” where K-12 students answer questions about the documents and artifacts on display at the four crawl locations. Those correctly answering ten of the clues are then eligible to enter a drawing for a chance to win two iPad Mini 3s, one for a K-5 student and another for a 6-12 student. The scavenger hunt is sponsored by Yellow Cab of Sacramento.  Entries must be submitted by 4 p.m. at the Center for Sacramento History; full contest rules and instructions will be available in the official Archives Crawl passport.  Be sure to pick one up when you start your crawl!

Thank you to our sponsors!

The 2015 Sacramento Archives Crawl is made possible through the generous support of the sponsors listed below.  This support went toward printing passports and coasters, securing bus transport between locations, and providing goodies for our prize drawing basket.  Thank you!

Powered by the Past

Planning has already begun on the 2015 Archives Crawl, our fifth annual event!  The 2015 theme is "Powered by the Past" and we're looking to make this year even bigger and better for crawlers.  Do you have any suggestions for us (participating archives, transportation, passports, prizes, etc.)?  Leave your thoughts in the comments and we'll bring it up at our next meeting.

The 2015 Sacramento Archives Crawl committee pauses for a semi-candid shot.
