Our friends at the El Dorado County Historical Museum have kindly contributed a series of virtual exhibits that will be on display right here this week, Monday through Friday. They cover the county's railroad stations, the time honored (and rued) practice of going back to school, the extraordinary contributions of Frances Barrett during World War II, playtime in El Dorado County during the wintertime, and playtime in the area during the summertime.
El Dorado County has long been a summer destination for recreation. Baseball was popular with many communities having their own team, as well as organizations and the lumber companies. In addition, swimming and camping activities were, and still are, very popular. These artifacts and historical photographs are from the El Dorado County Historical Museum’s collections.
